About the author
There are many facets to Pedro, but if i had to sum it all up i would say he is a professional fire-maker and triskaidekaphile
Passions
Software development. His profession and love since he could say “rm -rf /”. He currently works for an international GPS company called TomTom as a Java software developer though, at his heart, he has a hidden crush on Python and Django (checkout his cool pet project: Jumperr). One of the original developers of TomTom’s MapShare backend server, which handles a gazillion of map corrections every month. Recent dumb projects include forgoodkarma.com and bombthiscountry.com. He is not proud of any of them
Skydiving. The first jumps were the scariest thing he has ever tried in his life. Now it’s all fun and games in one of the coolest (and safest) sports in the whole world. Current holder of an A license, having been kicked out of a perfectly good airplane around 230 times.
Things where he dabbles
Guitar and drums. Learned guitar when college started and it has been a part of his life ever since. Drums came later, but also it became a passion. Nowadays, the occasional jam session is one of the great balance-bringers in his life.
Other casual activities
Climbing. 2003 was the first time Pedro ever hang from small protuberant pieces in a wall. It was one of the hottest summers in Portugal ever but that did not keep them from being in the sun at 11 am pushing their way to the top. Climbing helps think of other problems in life in a different way and that makes it a powerful ally anytime.
Cycling (all terrain). What can we say? He was almost born on a bicycle (got his first at the age of 4). The first time he sat in one with no support small wheels in the back he pedaled so fast he managed to go 100 meters without falling. And he saw that it was good. Today Pedro cycles to work everyday (one of the good things about living in Amsterdam) and misses the times when he had real mountains to play in.
Rollerbladding. One of the most recent sports attempts (right before skydiving). Wishes he had more time to dedicate to this balancing activity but, lately, skydiving is his thing and there is nothing he can do
And many many more, like painting and gaming.
